A new residence built for a couple who wanted to take advantage of their site, now surrounded by housing developments, but once an agrarian pasture. The simplicity of form speaks to the humble site and the client’s desire to make their backyard part of their living room. The front volume is made up of private family spaces while the rear volume contains the public spaces and a studio. The two linear volumes are joined by a long hallway that serves as an art gallery for the couple’s mid-century collection of art.
